Today I Took a Much-Needed Walk

Today, after a long day filled with appointments, routines, and the many unexpected moments that come with raising a child with autism, I did something I don't do often enough—I went for a walk. It wasn't a long walk, and it wasn't anything extraordinary. But for those few minutes, I gave myself permission to slow down, breathe, and clear my mind. The fresh air reminded me that taking care of myself isn't selfish—it's necessary. As autism parents, we spend so much of our time making sure everyone else is okay. We advocate, teach, comfort, encourage, and celebrate every milestone, big or small. Somewhere along the way, it's easy to forget that we matter too.
