A Moment I’ll Never Forget

To many people, that might sound like a small milestone. But for our family, it was a moment we had been working toward for what felt like forever. There were so many days when I wondered if we’d ever get here. We tried routines, visual schedules, reminders, and celebrated every tiny bit of progress along the way. Some days felt like we were moving backward instead of forward, and it was easy to get discouraged. But today was different. He recognized that he needed to go, walked to the bathroom on his own, used the toilet, washed his hands, and came back with the biggest smile on his face. He was proud of himself—and honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever been prouder.
